Kevin Grows the Business

Kevin the little bartending dog was thrilled—he’d done it. After years of delighting Portlanders with his cocktail charm and handcrafted drinks, Kevin had finally opened a second branch of his mobile bartending company, Amaro Bartending, in sunny Palm Springs.

The idea had come to him during a winter wedding in Oregon, when a gust of wind blew his bowtie sideways and his tiny paws were nearly frozen to the shaker. “There must be a warmer way to garnish a spritz,” he thought. And so began his desert-bound dream.

In Palm Springs, Kevin was immediately charmed by the mid-century architecture, the retro pool parties, and the abundance of sun-soaked patios perfect for sipping. He outfitted his new mobile bar in desert hues—sandy pinks, turquoise blues, and golden brass taps—and even had a custom “Amaro: Palm Springs Edition” logo printed, featuring a tiny paw holding a coupe glass.

His first event? A sunset cocktail hour at a chic modernist villa, complete with prickly pear margaritas, tamarind palomas, and a mezcal negroni with a smoked rosemary garnish. He even offered non-alcoholic agua frescas and spirit-free botanical spritzes for those enjoying a sober soirée. Kevin, ever the professional, greeted every guest with a wag and a well-measured pour.

As word spread of the dapper dog with a nose for seasonal syrups and elegant drinks, bookings began rolling in. Whether for weddings, art openings, or poolside brunches, Kevin was quickly becoming Palm Springs’ favorite four-legged mixologist.

And though he missed Portland’s food carts and forest hikes, Kevin knew he could always hop on a plane to check in with his PDX team. For now, he was just happy shaking cocktails under the desert sky, a linen apron tied neatly around his belly, and the scent of agave and citrus in the air.
